Date: Tuesday, September 15, 2026
Time: 1:00 – 1:45 PM
Presenter: Kamala Kuhn, Director of Grants Assistance
Session Description:
Every disaster begins at the local level. The number one priority during any disaster, whether natural or manmade, is the preservation of life and property. Equally critical is understanding the fiscal impact disasters can have on local and state governments.
This interactive session will guide attendees through the essential functions of emergency management, the significance of the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), and the disaster declaration process. Participants will gain insight into FEMA Disaster Assistance programs, key actions to consider when an incident exceeds jurisdictional response and recovery capabilities, and what to expect from local, state, and federal partners throughout the process.
Join us to explore the resources available when disaster strikes – how to access them, when to engage them, and how coordinated emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation can strengthen community resilience.
